A woman near Bluefield found out the hard way about the perils of social media. When she clicked the “like” button on the Facebook page of the county sheriff, her fugitive boyfriend ended up in jail and the girlfriend now is charged with obstruction of justice.
The girlfriend, Samantha Dillow, 22, may have wanted to keep tabs on the search for boyfriend Dyllan Naecker, 29. Naekcer was wanted by Maryland authorities for alleged noncompliance with sex offender restrictions.
So – reports the Bluefield Daily Telegraph – Dillow reached out to create that “like” link between her Facebook presence and that of the Tazewell County sheriff.
An officer at the sheriff’s office reached out in turn, taking a look at Dillow’s Facebook page and spotting pictures of a man who looked like the missing Naecker. When he showed the photos to Maryland authorities, they confirmed the identity.
Officers went to Dillow’s home, where she denied Naecker was in the house. Before the officers could get a search warrant, Naecker appeared and was arrested.
“Once she ‘liked’ our Facebook page, she put everything in motion for us to make the arrest,” the sheriff told the paper.
